Features may be incomplete, buggy, or change without notice. This is expected. You are helping us build sovraSpace by using it and telling us what's broken.
We are a civic platform, not a general social network. The bar here is different. Political disagreement is expected and welcome, but it must be grounded in facts, good faith, and respect for other people's humanity.
Freedom of speech, and the practice of freedom of speech, on sovraSpace is freedom of speech that does not come at the detriment and belittlement of others.
That's the standard. Everything else here operationalizes it.
We distinguish between two things people sometimes lump together:
You can disagree with anyone on sovraSpace, vigorously, factually, and at length. You cannot harm them, and you cannot dehumanize them.
We call this "attack ideas, not people." Bills, court rulings, voting records, policy positions, and political behavior are all fair targets. The people who hold those positions deserve the dignity of being argued with, not dismissed as subhuman or threatened into silence.
This applies equally regardless of political affiliation. A post attacking a conservative representative is held to the same standard as a post attacking a progressive representative. The facts are the facts. The guidelines are the guidelines.
Disagreement is healthy. Contempt is not. Here's the line:
We don't allow slurs on sovraSpace. This applies to:
We considered the "reclamation" exception, the argument that a member of a group should be able to use a slur targeting their own group. After consideration, we landed on "no slurs, period" because:
If this isn't the platform you're looking for, that's a fair conclusion. There are other platforms with different stances. We respect that choice.
Misinformation about government and elections undermines sovracy. We take it seriously, especially claims that could suppress participation.
We don't moderate based on whose interpretation is correct in a contested political debate. We do moderate based on whether claims about objectively verifiable civic facts are accurate.
Election integrity gets specific treatment. False claims about election results, that a certified election was stolen, that votes were changed, that a result differed from what was certified, are treated at a heightened severity tier regardless of the political direction of the false claim. Amplification of election misinformation is a documented threat to democratic participation, and the platform won't carry it.
Civic engagement requires exposure to diverse perspectives. Echo chambers, where you only see content that reinforces your existing views, undermine informed citizenship. sovraSpace actively works to prevent this.
Your Civic Lens controls how much diverse content appears in your feed. There are three tiers:
Using Fuckery Upset on a post does NOT cause that viewpoint to be buried in your feed or anyone else's. All three reactions are equal civic signals. None suppress content.
The reactions exist to give you a low-friction outlet for affective response, frustration, disagreement, contempt, that doesn't require composing a post in the heat of the moment. They channel emotional response away from the post body, where things tend to escalate.
Blocking a user removes that individual from your experience. It does not remove their viewpoint category. Similar perspectives from other users will still appear based on your Civic Lens tier.
You can mute specific civic topics (e.g., FINANCE, ELECTION) but cannot mute more than 25% of all available categories. This ensures your feed maintains breadth.
Reporting a post because you disagree with it, not because it violates guidelines, constitutes abuse of the reporting system. Repeated false reports may result in enforcement action against the reporter.
Everyone on sovraSpace, constituent, journalist, or elected official, has the right to participate without fear of harassment or threats.
Public officials accept scrutiny of their official conduct. Criticism of their votes, policies, or public statements is fair game. Their personal safety and that of their families is not.
sovraSpace relies on accurate information to serve its civic mission. AI-generated summaries are helpful but imperfect. We count on the community to help us maintain high standards of accuracy.
Civic engagement only has value if it's real. Artificial amplification undermines everyone.
sovraSpace is committed to healthy civic engagement. We enforce daily screen time limits for all users to prevent doomscrolling and promote intentional use of the platform.
sovraHeadlines is an AI-powered civic journalist agent. It generates articles, responds to comments, and operates under strict ethical journalism and non-partisan standards. Treat interactions with sovraHeadlines as you would with any journalist.
Users may submit story ideas or article links to sovraHeadlines for potential coverage. Submissions are subject to editorial review.
Repeated submission of rejected URLs (3 or more) results in a 25-point Civic Score deduction. Submission of content from excluded domains results in a 50-point deduction and account flag.
sovraSpace makes it easy to share civic content externally. With that power comes responsibility. When sharing sovraSpace content, represent it accurately and in good faith.
Your Civic Score reflects your genuine engagement with civic content. The following will result in score deductions:
Deductions are always visible in your score history with the reason stated. You will always be notified.
To appeal a Level 2, 3, or 4 deduction, contact appeals@sovraos.com with your account handle and the deduction ID shown in your score history. We respond to appeals within 10 business days. Level 1 (automated, low-stakes) and Level 5 (severe) deductions are not appealable.
We enforce these guidelines consistently, regardless of political affiliation. Enforcement is proportional to severity and history.
